WRITER

Jennifer N. Shannon (@writerjns) has written and published three books and has had short stories and poems published in several literary magazines such as Deep South, The Auburn Avenue and an essay forthcoming in North Dakota Quarterly. Three of her poems were published in the anthology, tender, a literary anthology and book of spells: evidence and Jennifer's work is featured in the Maryland State Arts Council 2021 Virtual Exhibition titled Identity

In 2020, Jennifer was awarded a fellowship from The Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing and a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council for Independent Artists. She was also selected and served as a panelist for the 2021 Maryland Heritage Awards. 

REVOLT: Black Joy Still Exists, It Always Will, is a virtual exhibition showcasing Black Joy, Black Love and Black Excellence, in which Jennifer curated and promoted. She is currently writing a novel.  

MARKETER

Jennifer also has 15+ years of marketing experience. Not only in marketing and promoting her own work but also at a Human Resources Consulting Firm. During her tenure at this mid-sized organization, she worked as a digital content marketer and specialist, who developed digital experiences, wrote engaging copy, created organizational personas, led marketing events and webinars and produced videos.

Jennifer is currently the marketing director of Yellow Arrow Publishing, where in 2021 she has grown social engagement, email open and click rates and made a tremendous impact on the organization by being a member of the board.
