Jennifer N. Shannon (@writerjns) is a writer + artist + curator. She has written and published three books and has had her poetry and short stories published in literary magazines. Most recently, Jennifer's creative nonfiction piece was published in North Dakota Quarterly, she was selected to attend the 2021 Hurston/Wright Foundation Writers Weekend for Fiction and she was a 2022 Poetry Fellow of The Watering Hole. Jennifer was also a 2022 Baker Award finalist for Literary Arts.


In addition to writing, Jennifer also curated the virtual exhibit, REVOLT: Black Joy Still Exist, It Always Will and the 2022 in-person exhibit, Black Joy is My Protest. Both exhibits featured artists from across the country and showcased Black Joy in unique and creative ways. The latest exhibition, Black Joy Is My Protest was displayed at Busboys and Poets in Baltimore, MD and was supported in part by the Maryland State Arts Council

Jennifer just finished writing her second novel and is enjoying life with her partner Ty and their son, Kade.


Jennifer also has 15+ years of marketing experience. Not only in marketing and promoting her own work but also at a Human Resources Consulting Firm. She is currently the Marketing Manager at ClancyWorks Dance Company, where she managed the launch of a new website and updated branding for the company, creates social media content, drives marketing efforts for events and performances and leads a small team.

Jennifer spent a year as the Marketing Director of Yellow Arrow Publishing, where in 2021 she grew social engagement, email open and click rates and made a tremendous impact on the organization by being a member of the board.
