Jennifer N. Shannon is a native of Cheraw, SC which is also the birthplace of famous jazz musician, Dizzy Gillespie. She attended the University of South Carolina where an overwhelming desire to write was nurtured in a fiction workshop with Professor Ben Greer. In that class she wrote a short story that ultimately became the muse for her first novel, Silent Teardrops. From there, Jennifer has continued to write and capture photographs which showcase her proud southern heritage.
Jennifer has authored and published three books and she has had short stories and poems published in several literary magazines such as Deep South, The Auburn Avenue and Tuck Magazine. In 2018, Jennifer's poem Keepsake was showcased as part of the Common Threads Exhibit at the Pittsburgh Carnegie Library and three of her poems were published in the 2019 anthology, Tender. Most recently, Jennifer's poem, When She Calls was selected to be a part of the Women and Nature exhibit by the Maryland Arts Council.
